Cellulite & How To Get Rid Of It!

It is estimated that more than 85 percent of all women 21 years and older have cellulite. While men can also get cellulite, it is not as common.
Cellulite is an excess amount of fat under the skin. This fat can be eliminated over time and the appearance of cellulite can be reduced.

There are many causes of cellulite that can be addressed, such as:

– Inadequate amount of exercise
– Smoking cigarettes
– Age
– Estrogen
– Family history
– Tissue inflammation
– Weight Gain
– Water
– Loss of collagen
– Poor circulation (a common issue in the legs)
– Poor lymphatic drainage
– Thinning epidermis (outer layer of skin)
– Poor blood circulation
– Alcohol abuse
– Genetic factors
– Poor eating habits
– Heavy metals (lead, mercury, lead and nickel)
– Fat
– Ammonia
– Cholesterol

Natural Remedies:

Massage: One promising remedy is massage. This can be done at home or with the help of a professional massage therapist. Massage can reduce cellulite by improving lymphatic drainage. It can also help stretch your skin tissue, which can stretch out cellulite dimples.

A study in The Journal Dermatology Research and Practice found that patients who received 10 sessions of lymphatic massage (a similar technique) showed a significant softening of the tissue. This is likely because massage improves circulation and helps prevent collagen and elastin from breaking down, thus minimizing the appearance of cellulite.

Sauna: Far Infrared Rays penetrate deep into your body to draw out toxins while melting fat deep into the subcutaneous level of your skin. Spending only 30 minutes in an Infrared Sauna gives the same results as an hour of intensive exercise.

As blood circulation improves, nutrients can be quickly delivered to your entire body, while sweating removes the toxins that are creating cellulite in the body. As your body notices that you do not need the extra fat to filter out toxins, it will become much more receptive to allowing it to leave through exercise and sweat

Step-Ups: Stand in front of a bench or sturdy exercise box. Step up on the box one foot at a time. Step back down one foot at a time. Repeat in the same pattern, then do a second set using the opposite foot to start.

Glute / Leg Kickbacks: Stand in front of a bench or sturdy exercise box. Step up on the box one foot at a time. Step back down one foot at a time. Repeat in the same pattern, then do a second set using the opposite foot to start.

Side Lunges: Stand tall with you feet hip distance apart. Take a wide step out to one side. Bend your right knee as you push your hips back while keeping left let straight. Make sure to keep both feet flat on the floor throughout the entire exercise. Push off with the same leg and return to starting position. Repeat with the other leg, bending the left knee and straightening the right.
Foam Rolling: While you may be familiar with foam rolling to recover from a workout, there’s an added bonus: it could very well be one of the best home remedies for cellulite reduction on the legs. “Massaging works to soften the fibrous bands of connective tissue that causes the dimpled appearance of cellulite,” says Dendy Engleman, M.D. a dermatologist based in New York City.

Dry Brushing: Gwenyth Paltrow may have made this beauty technique more ‘mainstream,’ but Dr. Engleman says there is some merit behind this practice. “Exfoliation can help smooth the appearance of cellulite by increasing blood flow to the area and reducing inflammation,” she says.
Using a natural bristle brush, start at your feet and work your way up the body. Brush upwards towards the heart using firm strokes. Dry skin brushing effectively opens pores on your skin, so this practice can be done daily, or even twice daily. Your skin should be dry, so the ideal time to dry brush is in the shower before you turn the water on. Remember, do NOT get the brush wet!
Coffee Scrubs: This technique, recommended by Dr. Oz, can be beneficial in reducing cellulite by combining the benefits of massage and exfoliation to stimulate blood/lymph flow. The caffeine in the coffee also has a tightening effect. For an effective coffee scrub, you will need:
A.) ¼ cup of coffee grounds
B.) 3 tablespoons of sugar or brown sugar
C.) 2-3 tablespoons of melted coconut oil.Combine ingredients to create a paste-like consistency (note: if using unrefined coconut oil, the mixture will harden if cooled) and store in a glass jar. To use, simply massage the mixture into skin for several minutes using firm pressure, then wash as usual. Use 2-3 times per week. Results should be visible within a couple of weeks!
